| Nov. 19th, 2008 05:17 am Project List It’s the eve before the trek ahead. Almost two hours before I leave from work, and another two hours to pack, I prepare to go to Midwest Furfest, with added events hopefully planed off to the side. So as things have been going, I’ve just been getting comfortable with trying to make creativity more of a habit. Between World of Warcraft and the new expansion that just recently came out. None the less, I’ve been getting stuff done here’n there. In fact, that’s sort of why I’m posting now. I want to write something, but outside of just starting to write, I’ll never come up with my classic TLDR’s.
I’ve got an hour to kill, and nothing I’ll really feel accomplished in that’ll take me less than an hour. I’d like to name off some of the big name projects I’m working on right now, and maybe where I’m at in the creative process. As you read this list over, please keep in mind, I wish to build production teams for some of these projects. There’s a lot of work to be done, and I won’t pretend to be able to do it all. So if you’re an Artist who’s writing isn’t your forte, then please get in touch with me over a project you my be interested in, and we can start team building. Music Atlantis Lands in California: This song is complete and practiced with the Critical Fail Band. All we need to do is record it. Hopefully, I’ll have an acoustic version available to listen too on SoundClick as soon as I can replace my strings and record. The song itself dives into the thought pattern of going on in life with the help of knowledge and the friends and people you’ll meet on the way. The song itself was sparked from a headline reading “Atlantis Lands in California”, and at that moment those words were symbolic for me. California’s a port area that deals with more than just
PiHKAL’s Warsong: Based on Capture the Flag from World of Warcraft and several years of flag fetching experience, this song is a satire that should be a favored song for anyone who’s played games like this online. Thus nothing that figures out the game, but nice limericks that’ll getcha chuckling over the lag you might experience during online play. Song is complete somewhat practiced with the band. I have a rough recording of it that I may be able to chop something together. This’ll also be posted on SoundClick.
Gasp of Air: This song is really an Instrumental. Using my latest advances of finger work (at the time,) It’s a nice little song that starts out a little soft and hopefully ether creepy, or an expansive melodic opening.
In Develupment; A Look Into the Sky More Money Missing – Skit Walk’n the Walk See like a fox fAIDS Animation Projects; I’m still sitting on trying to write a background story for this animation, but I know the first episode will consist of us dropping in on someone who was left for dead in his fighter in the middle of Space. The song Gasp of Air was written specifically with this animation in mind. Throughout the song you can tell the character is contemplating how he wants to die. He could ether run out of air, which could lead to a very slow death, or there’s option two. Picking up his side arm, the camera pans away, and you see a flash of light. WOW Scripts 1 “WOW Scripts:Basic Movement” is a training program for newcomers to the game of World of Warcraft. The first episode/trainer focuses on basic movement. Are you an FPS player at heart? Or have you never played a game like this before? Great! This is the space to start your adventure, a small but informative crash course on how to make your character in the game, more “You”. --- This is done, I’ve been sitting on it for 3 months for some reason. I guess I was hoping to come up with some flashy intro for the trainer, but I haven’t touched it since the meat of the project was done.
“WOW Scripts:Building Groups & Positionals” This is the main course of what WOW Scripts was all about. I’m not 100% sure if this’ll even be open to the public, but the emphasis of this trainer is to teach you how to build a kickass group, what you should be doing, and how the game’s hit boxes work.
Comics: Well I’m actually running short on time, and these are my most coveted projects right now, I wish I had time to write more about them. Unamed – I’m in the draft prossess of writing a script loosely based on World of Warcraft, and Several Martial Arts Books, Movies, and Manga in a Middle Age style setting. The story follows Lexrah and crew traveling across a countryside under siege ever since her hometown mysteriously disappears after a run-in with a quest.
Can anyone say, Husky Brothers Comic? I don’t know if I can, I got’a co-write it first. I won’t say where/who is interested in seeing this finished work, but let’s just say keep buying your topical favorite Furry Magazines. In the end Mathias Black will be drawing the characters, and I’ll be coming back as the coloring artist. So look out for some of my practice pix! You can see one already on my FurAffinity account. Got 4 min to go before work ends, thank you for reading! ^_^ Current Mood: chipper

| Sep. 7th, 2008 06:58 am Linked Roads and the Glare of the Pavement I was curious one day and decided to look up the online personality I had created for myself several years back. So I did what anyone would do to check their online "pulse" or buzz. Googling 'DesertfoxNick' I could easily see what I had generated throughout my mini carrier over the years. It was fun to see mentions to some of the places I used to hang out in. Like Portal of Evil that I trolled with a classic compellation of claims and sparing slander that you could only expect to be tested on the best and brightest people you'd might find on the internet. Or AGNPH witch to me was the right mix of friends at the time that helped me accomplish things I couldn't just do for "myself."
My character my not have been "Steven Colbert" but I hope dropping the name gives you a clue on where I might be going with this. I'd like to express how character and tact can affect perspective and experience. We all have characters we play, whether it's the one we use at Work, Home, Play, or on the internet, it all comprises, mixes and melds into who we really are. I know that any one of my characters alone doesn't say who I really am, but they are characters I created, thus I'm no longer trying to find who I am, or what I was. I'm taking what tools I have, and hopefully using the right ones for the right jobs, with the right people.
Example: At first I really didn't like Colbert when he first started his show. I found him fake, I couldn't see through to the "real him" thus making me feel displaced from his actual message. But as I said to myself, 'I can't get attached to this character,' that's when it finally hit me. Though I had finally seen what he actually acts like on Larry King, by then I had already knew the character itself was a manifestation of Steven and his talented writers for a specific reason. The point of the character was to make you feel that way so if you have a good argument, the reply could be worth more than the challenge. One may say he sets you up for the win, not the fall. It's at this moment I knew I was more then all of my own characters combined. I might have limited myself to over the years thinking I couldn’t shake old presuppositions, but they’ll never change if I don’t produce. So I was no longer trying to figure out who he was anymore, and I learned a bit or two about whom I was too.
My own characters that I have created over the years not only have affected me, but the entertainment, love, and friendship of several different people. My soul drive all along was the people I was performing for. Up until just recently though, I felt a deep guilt over the fact that with how much I gave everyone else, I felt as if I was ignoring myself. And then when I tried to work for myself, I produced nothing. Just like fire, I realized I needed more than just the ‘want’ or ‘need’ to do something; I needed someone to do it for.
I can’t complain too much about the past. Most people don't get the chances I had through the people I knew. Some may never move or even travel away from they're hometown. Most don't get a chance to meet the amount of people I have met. Not many can claim they've played music on the New York Subway, nor can they feel what the Summer of Love might of been like. Marked by several summers of such, I’m glad I took advantage of the days of Low Air Fares and cheap gas by traveling to conventions, stage performances, Concerts, and teaming up with friends all across the country.
I know you know who I am, or was; but I assure you, what's true or not true, what was or ever shale be, are experiences we shared together. Through the trust of my friends, family, and loved ones, I've been able to follow a path that gave me some of the best times of my life so far. So if I change over the years, please expect that with lots of experience comes with it, lots of change.
I thank you all for your support throughout the years, and hopefully some more years to come. I may change styles, I may change my ways, or I may change what pencil I use, but rest assured I'm experiencing every moment life has to offer. Thanks to Furry and World of Warcraft it not only got me caught up to date on the ‘social networking’ I lacked in Maine, but it’s given me the focus to do abilities I never had before.
I may have gotten a little to in character.
I remember a time where I ran my weekly 2 hour netradio program before the whole MP3 copy write thing became an issue. I loved doing it for none other than my friends, and new ones I was meeting on the way. As I played the role of “DesertfoxNick”, I lost my stage performance. Playing the role of a Shy, Timid, Bi-Sexual fur boy toy was entertainment for its time, but in roll playing the same thing for so long, and a disposition that didn’t allow for growth, I found myself lacking in some skills I thought I had under the table. (No pun intended, I literally mean things like, Being badass at Video Games, Singing, Voiceovers, Performing in front of crowds and most of all, Music.)
Now, I wish to reclaim my thrown, if not overthrow it completely. At least this time, I’m not asking you to come with me, I’m asking you to be a part of the phenomenon that makes people whole and progress as a society. I’m sure if I want to make something for myself I will, but it’s in individualism and independent skills of a group that make the affect we have erasable. If it takes 10 people to build a wall, it’ll take one person a lot longer to destroy it.
Thus, if we've met, and you're not used to one of the characters I'm portraying for you, don't feel bad. This isn't a "You don't know me." claim. It's me pointing out how grateful I was to of met you. I’m honored in knowing several different people, all I can ask for is that others will reflect that honor back. I’m not trying to fake anyone out, I’m just not going to play the role of Hamlet when the script calls for Romeo.
You may know me as an Artist, a Musician, a Performer, a Service Representative, a Gamer, a Sexy Beast or even a good Friend, but most of all, whether our experience together was positive or negative, all I really hope for is the change we both experienced life. In the end, whatever you do believe about me, all I hope is that I'll have been someone you dream of from time to time.
Btw, I don't know if you care or whatnot, but I've been working on a World of Warcraft FPS trainer Flash Animation that aims to streamline your feel for 'combat' into a more First Person control system I feel is a glove to the type of player who isn't used to RPG's. For the basic control module, all I have to do is throw in an intro and credits, and it should be done. From there I may work on building a team of Animators and Gamers to comprise new works hopefully in time to come out with the Frozen Thrown Expansion. Current Mood: amused

| Sep. 20th, 2007 05:32 pm Dear Jena Six In New York if you kick a man while he's down, you can be convicted of attempted murder. Okay, so when this Jena Six thing came up I wasn't exactly surprised. What surprised me was that all of these people thought that these kids should get away with it! Because why? Where were they during Henry Keith Watson and friends beat the living crap out of Reginald Denny?
I don't consider myself raciest, in fact I think a lot of white people gave up on racism a long time ago. With the advent of the internet the only person to blame for the way you look is yourself. So why do I see people going into book stores and offended that there isn't a "black literature" section? Or why do I have to worry about Affirmative Action? It's not even like my for-fathers had anything to do with slavery. My for-fathers probably had rocks thrown at them as they came off the Potato boat from Ireland. No offence, but I think some people should be great full Americans of Old even WANTED you here.
Most Americans today worry about Gas Prices. Just because there are clicks of certain ethnic backgrounds who hang out with friends do to family or location doesn't mean you should get rights over someone else. That's just ignorant. I understand that Race is a big issue... But to who?
Just because life still sucks or not for EVERYONE doesn't mean it should be a race issue. Maybe it's time to put down the arms and start working together to make a better tomorrow for ourselves as a whole. As far as I can tell we still have freedom of speech. Even if it's a nasty letter or even a symbolism of old hypocrisy doesn't actually mam or kill someone. However, in this case, who threw the first stone?

| Jun. 26th, 2007 04:09 am Save Internet Radio - This crap's for real!!! Sound Exchange
I can't believe a company who can't stay in business without bending the law in their favor can be trusted to hunt down and find web stations playing my music and collecting TAXES on it. I did not hire these people, and they're acting without my personal consent, nor due cut of payment they have been receiving. Sound Exchange has been collecting money and asking questions later. If you're not part of their web site, you can rest assured you'll never hear from them, or see a check in your name. This is ridiculous, if only we can sue them for misrepresentation right?
Where does all the money our artwork has made for them go? Where does the interest on all this fraudulent money go? Is this 'tax' increase is what we get for boycotting CD's?
Don't be fooled by people who figured out how to sit on their butts and collect money.
Sound Exchange in my opinion has been ripping us all off with their lawsuits and head hunter type attitude using artists themselves as human shields.
Say Hello, to a new IRS to worry about.
--- The Domino Effect --- If ads cost more, so will the products.
In a time when our country can't afford new real-estate or housing, the recording company wants a bigger cut of the American Dollar by EXTORTING artists and their fans.
It takes a lot of airtime and money to make products seem like everyday household items. Even if you don't think you pay much attention to commercials, we all know the difference between a Name-Brand, and Generic.
Eventually everyone will have to help flip the new bill ads on Internet Radio will cost. I already have enough crappy bandwidth radio stations I can turn into, I don't think people need the same companies running Internet Radio too.
--- Sound Exchange, ripping off the independent Artist --- Don't get me wrong I would like to be paid for our music too, but what about the independent artist?
As I see it, there is no way for the independent artist to say, "THIS IS MY MUSIC, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO REPRESENT ME!"
What if I want my music or art to be freely distributed? What if I have a selection of music that I wanted my friends to have? What if I count on those stations existing so I don't have to feel like I sold out? What if I can't sell out because I can never be heard? Wasn't this establishment created so stuff like this wouldn't happen?
I guess it was easier to charge everyone with phantom royalties, then let people make their claims to the money they collected. - Isn't this how the IRS sort of works?
So much for putting effort in ripping people off...
I really hope these people aren't collecting money on behalf of artists posting freely distributed music. Are our patrons really being TAXED on things the corporations don't own? When was the last time you got a check from these people?
From the looks of Sound Exchange's website, they collect money on music they don't own from Internet Radio Stations playing music they may or may not have the right to play. Despite the fact that The Radio Station's the one that put the work into staffing and running the station, they get charged for playing music in general. This shoot first, and ask questions later technique misrepresents me as human being more then what my talents can make me claim.
I work for a living, and people pay each other for services RENDERED. I wish Sound Exchange could say the same thing.
Can these people really collect money on my own music? What if the music was on a 24 hour net radio station, that I had looped it over and over? Am I stealing my own music by throwing in a 10 dollar ad here and there? If so, do I at least get part of the money back when they tax me for it? -This is ridiculous.
Can these people really collect money on something you own? What if someone started a net radio station for local talent who gave you the right to play the music? All of a sudden to these people I stole your music, and now it's not being played.
--- Conclusion ---
In my opinion Sound Exchange is trying to cut the 'independent artist' out of the picture. If independent music can't be found easily, the recording industry will regain control over what we see and hear.
The record companies can't see that their glory days are over, and there is better, more personalized talent for people to enjoy out there that doesn't involve signing a dotted line.
I believe Sound Exchange will continue this path of increasing Internet Radio rates until they effectively control the airways again. Once that happens, not so luxuriant talent won't even see the light of day.
I play music and draw only in hopes someone will enjoy what I have to offer. Not use it as a reason to steal money from other people. Even with some of my music and art already making its way around as it is, I have faith that it's out of the publicity, my friends and fans have given me.
So if you find it hard to find your favored Internet Radio station after July 14th, I think I have a good idea who's money pocket the station wasn't big enough to fit into.
PS. Sound Exchange claims to be a nonprofit organization. But where is the interest going on all these unpaid bands?
This website is dedicated to help Internet Radio survive. We already saw a good portion of our stations disappear 10 years ago. Do we really want to see all the talent that was lucky enough to survive die too?

| Jun. 18th, 2007 02:06 pm Where am I? Am I where I 'need' to be? Are we rogues semi working together for a greater good, or should we really stop to help the wounded putting yourself at risk too?
Loved ones, Friends, and the band, could I really leave the life I worked so hard to create for myself? Could someone really blame me for feeling the guilt I do?
I've looked plenty of people in the eyes and have told them good bye, but why...

| Jun. 1st, 2007 06:55 am The Populous of Known’s and Unknowns. R.C.F.M. – Critical Fail Shows I’d like to say I had a blast at RCFM. I hope some of you saw the Critical Fail Show on Friday night. If not maybe you saw a smaller segment on Saturday ether way I played at both. I was playing on the far left to the audience’s point of view. I thought the Friday night show rocked! We played a lot of our older stuff too, but between both nights combined I know we had more then 5 or 6 new songs. Friday night could have gone better, but I still have to say the lights were awesome. ^-^’
Talent Show – World of Warcraft Skit Some of you might have been the genie pig audience for my “Warsong Gulch” WoW skit. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I had enjoyed playing for everyone. Thanks to knowing a lot of people in some form in my past, I could really get into doing it for you because I knew I was playing for friends. Old friends or new, it still sounded to me that you liked it, so I’m happy I had the chance to share it. I promises next year I’ll have something a little more furry themed. I’ve already started work on a Comedy/Music routine, so if you want to see me again next year, float my name around those staff meetings! I just knew some of you out there, and thought it would be nice to show my face again to let everyone know I’m doing well and I’ve come a long way since we probably last met. But, I’m sure we all have, right?
Dear Friends, I would like to send out my greatest thanks to those of you who have stuck with me throughout the years. You’ve given me the memories that will last me a lifetime! Some of you may wonder why I tend drop off the face of the earth from time to time… I apologize for the random disappearances but I’ve been going through a lot of changes. Take it if you will, I was on a journey outside of the internet to learn about my own soul, my capabilities, and my dreams. Thank you again, every last one of you. Current Mood: thankful

| Jan. 27th, 2007 06:00 pm The perfect Utopia What would you do if you were the leader of a country. Most leaders are strong people who’s intelligence surpasses the need of worry about such a leader of a superpower committing suicide. Adolph Hitler for instance did such a thing, and his empire and people are plagued to this day. (By people who aren’t even really Jews anymore.) As dictators go you can only assume your going to get some bad apples that will lead to the country’s fall. Today's day of democracy and welfare, promises that only the best sales-person will flip the bid. Well the leader might not be the best person for the job.. but what harm could he do in 4 years?
So I ask you, In four years as a leader, If things get real shity, Would you take the country with you? Or would you be a man, and take the pity. Leave a comment | |

| Sep. 15th, 2006 10:52 am Something I think you should see. Here's something I learned existed by listening to the Glen Beck show. I think it's really important for people to watch this movie. The movie itself was to be released to the movie theater, but no one will touch it. If you would like a good idea of what we're up against in the middle east, and why were so at arms with these people, please watch this movie.
-PS There are a lot of references to the Nazi's in this documentary. I bet you didn’t know ‘Jehad’ and ‘Mein Kampf ‘ pretty much means the same thing.

| Sep. 12th, 2006 04:53 pm Good riddance! By all means, please, be a prick about your artwork! It’s yours right?!?! So if your going to bitch about reposting, I agree with you whole heartedly. Why should you be privileged enough to get money though free advertising at all when I can? Too many people trying to advertise freely on image boards will only make these services have to charged just to stay online. Bandwidth is not free!
So yeah, on second thought... I’d love to see my competition disappear! Now that’s what I call, Good riddance!!! ^-^; 7 comments - Leave a comment | |

| Sep. 12th, 2006 04:52 pm RE: Andrew Dick I just got done reading what he said to you in the E-mail.
Damn, all I have to say is what I said before. There’s a reason why 'real' artists have Managers. Even with some of my music being adult rated, I'm not dumbing it down for people under 18, because they are not my target audience. Most of my music is for all audiences, but my artwork in the past plainly hasn’t been. I don't try to elude people to think furs are some specialty gifted audience, because I’m a fur and make music. I'm not going to get anything 'real' out of the fandom with my music when most like techno. So I have to turn to places like Google, Myspace, and Soundclick to advertise my/our warez. I’m not trying to push my artwork alongside my band’s music now am I? I’m not trying to make it well known that my old artwork even exists to my band fans because it’s not ‘for’ them. Most may not think it’s the cool disturbing antics of some song writers drawings and notes. A lot of my artwork can be downright offensive. I do things to make sure the right people I want to see my stuff, does.
Now, if I had to do all my advertising on my own, I’d probably pay a lot of cash to host my videos. And to try to go to a convention thinking I’m going to pay for it by selling artwork is downright retarded. From what I’ve seen, there’s already a shitload of starving artists going to the con with the same idea. Five to ten years ago, you didn’t have the problem of a shit ton of artists going to a con making it hard to be noticed. A lot of people are already strung out on cash for the trip to begin with. They aren’t going to a con to be ripped off with twenty dollar, one dollar prints. If they do have the money, it’s usually diehard fans, or because they are willing to pay that much money on GOOD artwork. All in all, since these artists aren’t letting themselves be known except though cons, now we have a surplus of artists going to cons with a dream. Unless your really a badass artist, the best you usually hope for is some old fans, or friends kind enough to pay for your prices.
Now where would I get as a professional artist if I didn't have these free forms of advertisement. To me, the smartest move any artist can make so they get recognized by any community, would be to make sure people know you even exist. Word of mouth and a shitty website where it’s hard to find the stuff I’m looking for, won’t get recognition from me. I go to places like Soundclick, Image Boards, Google Video, and Yiffstar to find new artists. Do you these artists really expect that they’re going to hit stardom in the fandom by posting they’re artwork on some sub-linked website without even a .com to they’re name?
If these dumbfuck artists are to stupid to realize that they're fans are turning to the people they can find and get in contact with easily, then maybe that would explain my own recent popularity. Since artists started thinking the way Furnation deals with a crisis is somehow better business, It’s funny that so many people get away with treating people like shit without the IRS getting involved. Where is all this dirty money going? If you want to claim yourself to be a business without paperwork, I guess the “Cheep Way” of dealing with a legal business problem is to just harass people, and make shit up. Keeps you out of the IRS’s eyes and ears I guess. These ‘Head hunters’ are doing. It’s victims are the artist (who has the right to be forgotten and hated,) the artist’s fans, and the people who won’t be able to know the artist exists to begin with. In some cases artists who may of never said anything in the first place, will have some stupid fan who doesn’t know any better, thinking they’re going to get buddy buddy with one of they’re favored artists. New furries aren’t going to find it easy to find the ‘old classics’ because to them they don’t know it exists.
If you grew up not knowing what a TV was, did you miss not having one? What about other examples of people who did take they’re claim to court? Well even for a legitimate reason guess what... Nobody wanted to hear Metallica bitch whine and complain about artist’s rights anymore. Despite being right, they lost a shitload of fans because they essentially screwed over a lot of they’re fans. They didn’t want they’re work being redistributed and started a wave of mass artistic destruction. Now lot of fans feal that now since users of MP3’s, ligit or not, have to worry about being fined for possessing them. Music companies could be fining you for freely distributed music from up and coming unsigned labels, and why? Maybe to control underground stardom? Maybe for the rights of these artists who never asked for the help? Why?
If people really don’t think something like the Metallica incident could happen in our very own fandom, that’s very well connected, and very drama filled; then to me, that’s not just short bus retarded, that’s bankrupt retarded. However, thanks to Furnation, Furry Metallica already happened. (In fact, it shortly happened after the Metallica incident if I recall correctly.) Now we have to live with a countless number of people have pulled this shit in the fandom since Furnation decided to go the ‘cheep way’ about doing business. Now thanks to them people all over the fandom are all freaking out about reposts, and they’re artwork being placed on an archive, despite weather the artist’s subject mater belongs or not.
-How many people have tried to contact you about AGHPH on this so called behalf of the original artist?
Even if the artist or their convinced fans think what they're making is art and not porn so they can save face, then by all means PLEASE, PLEASE take it out of the fandom completely. Stop smearing your drama campaign online so artists who know something about business can keep on trucking. Not taking the proper, indiscreet steps to take your artwork down just shows publicly how much of an asshole you are. Stop fucking harassing and flooding other furs about how your going to leave the fandom, or on the site in general, and let us do our own thing undisturbed!
A great example if I may, would have to be a friend of mine named Fredryk Phox. He’s been having a hard time trying to find a website with bandwidth rates that he can afford; so he had to turn to video hosting sites not even related to the furry community. Look how popular he is now! He hasn’t really released anything in a while he’s been in school, and his popularity still grows thanks to this free advertising. So what’s the difference between videos, music, and artwork? Nothing. (I didn’t even have to go to art school to learn this one!) Leave a comment | |

Furnation had a magazine they were producing that a guy named Sibe scanned and posted it in a way where anyone could download it through IRC. In retaliation, Furnation shut down it’s website for a long ass time telling it's webmasters and users that they would be shutting down until this 'Sibe' problem was taken care of. Thus setting the stage for the fandom to get pissed off and go after ‘some jerk.’ You know the “Cheep Way” of dealing with a legal business problem. Why call the police when you can just get EVERYONE to hate him? In the end, these pathetic assholes even went as far as to post addresses of people who just hung out in the same IRC channel with ‘Sibe’ on they’re website. The only thing... on the website. Now that led EVERYONE to believe that these innocents had something to do with why they can’t see they’re porn. And the crusades were bloody my friend!
I myself used to hang out in that same channel. I was summoned there by his wishes. Most of us were tricks of trade of knowing how to be.... Different, then everyone else. When Sibe himself told me what he was about to do, I knew there would be bad times. Hey, I like porn too god damnit! And considering I was still feeling sore over the whole MP3 thing, I tried to convince him not to make a big deal about being able to download the magazine. Lay low, and be happy it can be done. Spread only by the best filter, the word of mouth........ and he did not listen. He posted everywhere, about how you could download it ‘here’, and that’s when the shit hit the fan. That was the last time I ever spoke with him on that issue, and I left the IRC channel the second I saw his FAE post. (fur.artwork.erotica).
Now despite furnation being back up and Sibe recently being busted for something completely unrelated to the Furnation incident, almost the entire Fandom continues this hemorrhoid business method against eachother by getting they’re fans to do the dirty work for them. You know the “Cheep Way” of dealing with a legal business problem.
Now, Fans are looking for people who are reposting they’re favored artist’s artwork to try and get 'buddy buddy' with them. Most furs I know now are just pissed at those artists and people. I myself left being an exclusively Furry artist because if I have to go through this much bullshit to distribute my artwork, then I may as well be a 'real' artist... fuck the fandom!
Personally, I just wanted to keep another good talented artist from freaking out about stuff that's too unrealistic to really control. I don’t see any record label or anything fighting for Furry artwork. Heck even they can't control MP3’s in the way they want to, and those are 3mb files. Not that convenient, small, I can fit 15 of these things on a flopy, 100k file that artists will post. And then get surprised when they see it someplace else? That almost sounds like entrapment to me!!!
In the end we all have to ask ourselves before making a decision, “How would this benefit me?” I don’t just mean money, but that’s a great place to start!
- If I used my fans to get my own way by saying; "People are re-posting my artwork. So I’m going to cut you off to make this guy pay!!!" “How would this benefit me?” - You would think I was pretty low whouldn’t you?
- At this point I should only expect people to archive and pass my artwork around. If they aren’t getting my artwork from the places I already wanted them too, the only way they will even get my artwork now is from wrongfully copping it. “How would this benefit me?” - Oops, this is what I wanted to stop to begin with....
- Now, all of this started from a single post problem on some rinkydink forum that no one is really making any money on whatsoever. What I could of easily gotten under control myself, is now a bunch of irate kids (Espeicaly to the ones at heart!) doing the best they can to try and screw over other people for me. Now, half my fans would probably hate me, and tell people who haven’t even heard of me about how much of a jerk this DFN guy is. “How would this benefit me?” - Where did my fans go?
I can only hope some of my smarter fans would send me an e-mail to explain to me how much of a prick I’m being. (I guess that’s the reason why I even took the time to e-mail you in the first place.) I would hope that someone with enough balls would tell me how much of a manipulative asshole I was being.
DFN Ponders, “Maybe I should of took my newfound popularity and used it to get more commissions instead. I could of made a lot of money off that free advertising.” -Oops, but it’s to late, now people just copy my artwork from eachother anyway. “How would this benefit me?” - I can’t afford my ubernet to post myself anymore.... ::sniff sniff::
This situation is not one of my personal all time goals in life!
I’m not here to sinisterly screw over my fans, and they know that. As an artist; I make music and art for myself, but in the end, I love to perform it for them. I do shit I like, and they love me or hate me for it. But they put up with me because they know I love them because I tell them I do. (When I’m actually there...) Even if it’s not said in some cliché one liner, they know that despite what I do, I love them for taking the time for noticing me. I speak to them when I sing; I perform for them to make them laugh; I draw to make them react; I look people in the eyes when I talk to them, but all in all I also know when I should do nothing at all, and to just listen.
If this isn’t your case, then I seriously misunderstood... lol, sorry...
Posting drama instead of pictures on the CC website was misleading to me and I apologize. If you honestly posted this drama not thinking you were going to get a response, (even if it wasn’t the one you wanted to hear in your call for help,) then you should of never said anything at all and just left. It would of saved me the time and the trouble to even message you about this. If I had to deal with this, I would take matters into my own hands. Most webmasters are really good about making lists of names; Baned IPs, Webmasters, FTP logins, heck even one that includes artists that don’t want they’re artwork being posted. Calling on fans to do this causes ‘unwanted drama’ and notches another reason why some artists, furs, and fans alike don’t respect the fandom anymore.
Now, It’s just not fun to be a furry anymore. Why are some artists pitting us against each other with this hypothetical nonsense that they’re going to get ripped off in the end? Harassing people to death until people listen, is not good business! These people are ruining our fandom by using us to unionize against eachother, to do they’re bidding so they can save a buck by not going through court with these offenders!!! That’s like saying, “Do what I say or you won’t get anymore candy!” There are ways to discipline a child without cutting off the milk. By that point cutting off the milk plainly abuse. But the furries keep bite’n and bitch’n...
People should be respectful for the laws and what they’re really there for. They’re there to protect your interest as an artist that any money made off of your creation will go directly to you, as a result of you somehow selling it. Not harassing people who are kind enough to offer they’re upload services so a lot of fucking people can actually see your artwork. Wile these people aren't paying for the bandwidth being used, they're bitching whining and complaining that they're getting free bandwidth (Advertising) with absolutely no investment by them.
Business with no investment?
“How would this benefit me?” - Hollyshitcow!!!
How do you expect People to know your artwork exists if there’s no way for people to find it easily? Google now has the great ability to search Imagies from websites in an easy browsing manor. I’ll type the word “Fennec” in and do an image search and along with pictures from independent websites using image coppies that Google holds in a giant database of archived pictures, it finds an example of Megan-Giles artwork of a fennec. Well gee, maybe I can get my wife a picture of a fennec instead... BAM!!! SALE!!! I say wife because I know that Google isn’t just for ‘furrys’. Anyone searching for pictures of fenecs will know who this artist is, and what type of artwork they can produce. Wow.. the marvels of good advertising, WITH NO INVESTMENT.
Now, some stupid fur will try to harass Google over this. Seriously.
Okay, so go ahead and strip yourself down to your own bandwidth, get those bastards who dare let other people view your material how dare they even THINK OF IT, RIGHT?!?!
But, there’s Lil ol Megan-Giles with an assload of fennec fans who may assume she’s the only one since she is the only Arty type stile on the first page.
“How would this benefit me?” - We’ll.. I wish I was her...
Boards where artwork can be posted makes things people like easier to find. Artists are going poor in the fandom because now they’re artwork is only spread by word of mouth. No new fans thanks to recent publicity are going to replace the amount you were getting before. The fame dies down and your product turns to shit cause you feel like your being held back by your old fans. You can't grow as an artist.
I hope at this point it would make someone ask themselves, “why did I deny myself free advertising on an image board when I knew for a fact they were paying for the bandwidth being used without you having to pay a dime?”
“Where are they now....” I would ask myself.
Of coarse if I woke up tomorrow and found my stuff posted or being used in a way to actually ‘make real money’ I’d at least try to get a cut before telling them to cease and desist. Sell out sell out sell out!!! But that’s my own business ethics. Sure, a fan might of told me it was there, but I’m dealing with it. I’m not trying to make my fans pay because some jerk did something I didn’t like who probably didn’t know any better. And I still have my reputation. I didn’t shame it across everyone’s faces.
> I never posted anything on furnation, I > don't even know the address. If somebody is posting > things under my name, tell me because it's not me.
O.o?......
Yeah, sure, it's everywhere, just look. www.furnation.com go to the “Websites” Link and look through there. I’m sure you’ll find it somewhere.. it was on the 10th page down somewhere and a few other places...
PS: On a more realistic note, I’m reposting these E-Mails on my LiveJournal and MySpace.. ^-^!!!! -Bye Current Mood: enthralled

IF shit comes before friends and family, then all you'll be left with is shit itself.

I used the EAX Control Panel for all effects. (Jazz club echo and distortion.) I recorded all the parts using the real interments, even my own voice. x.o
